"Aww, Meryl, don't be like that. Hey-" she shifted - careful of the myriad of food around them - so she was in front of her, fingers trying to gently pry Meryl's free from her face. "Come on, I'm just teasing you. I mean- I do absolutely want to sleep with you, but only if you want to." And after they ate, obviously. "Do you want me to stop?"
"No, no!" Her hands lower, revealing a blush that runs straight to the tips of her ears. She lays one hand in her lap, clutching at the fabric of her pants. The other, at least, lays delicately over Night Sky's own.
"You saying it isn't the problem. It's me not getting it through my thick head!" She inhales sharply, trying to soothe her nerves with a few deep breaths.
She took her hand, threaded their fingers together, and squeezed reassuringly. Her other hand rose to brush her knuckles across the flushed red of Meryl's cheeks as she leaned forward to press their foreheads together.
"Hey." More serious and pointed this time. "You're okay, sweetheart." She said nothing more for a few moments, letting Meryl inhale those steadying breaths. "I'll ease up a little. I don't want you to stress while we're supposed to be having fun."
"And..." Another deep breath. "What if I don't want you to ease up?"
Dancing around Meryl's more delicate sensitivities wasn't going to get them anywhere. Not when she actually wanted Night Sky. Her head tilts, just enough to brush their noses together.
She tilted her head, both in a curious gesture, and to return that soft affection. "Then I won't, if that's what you really want." She pressed a soft, fleeting kiss to her lips.
"I have to ask - have you been with anyone before?" The blushing, the way she flustered, how long it took her to actually figure out what Night Sky was talking about- it was kind of important information to know before she pushed further. "You don't have to go into detail, obviously."
Fleeting is unfortunate, as it turns out. Meryl leans into the kiss, only to huff with some amount of agitation when Night Sky pulls back. Just when she's getting into it!
"I - haven't. I didn't really have time for it in school, I was too busy studying. And then once I was in the field, well..."
She motions vaguely. She doesn't need to get into how hard it is to hook up with anyone in the desert. Or the fact that she might have been carrying a torch for someone at the time.
They're having a very important conversation Meryl! Give her a second.
"Of course not." She said, choosing to not voice how much sense that all made, lest Meryl think she was roasting her. She also didn't mention how this was the second time this had happened to her.
"You're sure you want it to be with me?" It didn't sound self-deprecating, for once. She just wanted Meryl to be absolutely positive about her choice.
And it isn't like she hasn't thought about it? Like her mind hasn't absolutely run away with the fantasy, time and time again. It's barely been a handful of days since the party, but Night Sky has become a very prominent part of Meryl's mind.
Night Sky smiled, her expression soft and her cheeks tinted pink as heat rushed to them. She knew she was wild and intense - still so convinced that any moment of joy could fade in an instant, that sometimes she worried she would scare people off. She was glad Meryl had given her a chance.
Speaking of chances. The dryad leaned in to take up the opportunity that presented itself then, pressing her lips to Meryl's for something more than the fleeting kiss she offered earlier, hand threading through her hair to palm the back of her head.
If anything, being wild and intense is what Meryl has been drawn to. She can admire someone who is so wild, free, and vibrant. It reminds her of what she wants to be.
Naturally, there's no hesitation in that kiss. Her lips part beneath it, inviting more even as her own arms twine around Night Sky's shoulders.
Night Sky happily accepted that invitation, tongue slipping past Meryl's lips with an approving hum. Her free hand pressed to the ground beside her hip, body tilted forward as if trying to urge her onto her back. Listen, she knew Meryl said they should eat first - but no one said she couldn't be briefly distracted between courses.
Meryl is not complaining about the distraction, thank you. Maybe some part of her wants to, since she put a lot of effort into cooking but. To hell with it. She allows herself to sink back into the grass, though her fingers in the dryad's hair make sure that Night Sky is coming with her.
One noise escapes her, brief and hesitant. She'll find it in herself to feel silly, or embarrassed, or anything else later. For right now, all she can think about is Night Sky.
Oh, she was absolutely coming with her. Night Sky sank down, the hand palming Meryl's head assuring she rested comfortably on the ground before slowly retracting; fingertips grazing the column of her neck and down to the buttons of her jacket.
Making no move to undo said buttons just yet, the dryad continued kissing her - slow at first, tentative and soft, until she felt that heat coiling in her belly and all she wanted to do was devour the woman beneath her. Her kiss became more fervent, passionate, hungry with her tongue swirling over Meryl's and her teeth catching her lower lip as she leaned back for a breath.
"We should probably make this a little more private." She murmured, "give me a second." She just had to grow a bunch of vines and roots real quick. No big deal pulling them up from the earth to coil together, up and around like a tent of wood and leaves and a few blossoming flowers. For fun. She made sure to keep a little hole in the top so they could still see the stars. "That work for you?"
At first, Meryl hadn't been certain where the kiss would go. It could have been just a very long, very extensive kiss, and she would have been fine with that. Not that she isn't fine with this. The moment Night Sky mentions more extensive cover, the moment those fingers rest against the buttons of her jacket, she knows where it's going.
And she wants it.
"It's perfect." And maybe it's the fact that she's absolutely lovestruck right now that makes her tongue so loose, she follows up with: "You're perfect."
She reaches up, holding her cheek just for a moment. Just to stare at her.
Perfect was not a word she ever associated with herself, but even her severely lacking self-esteem could not bring her down in that moment. With the dimness of their makeshift shelter, Night Sky's eyes shimmered, her pupils dilating as Meryl's hand came to rest on her cheek. She leaned into that touch, turned her head to kiss her palm and sighed, her cheeks suddenly blazing hot.
"I should be saying that to you, for giving me an opportunity like this." She said. "I want you to remember this night forever."
She laid another kiss to the inside of Meryl's wrist, then leaned down again to kiss her softly, the hand on her chest slowly working those buttons open. "Make sure you tell me what you like - and what you don't. I won't judge you for any of it."
The wonders of Night Sky will never cease. She'd caught sight of those eyes earlier but hadn't thought twice about them. Now, pinned under their gaze like a butterfly on a board, she can't help but notice just how beautiful the glow is. It only proves that Night Sky is ethereal.
That she's absolutely perfect, as Meryl had only just said. A few seconds in and she's already repeating herself? This wasn't going to go well.
"I- I promise I will." She nods a few times. Probably a few too many times, really. "And if you need anything from me, just say it. Okay?"
Beneath that jacket is a simple white shirt, made of a thin cotton. Nothing too fancy or dressed up, though the discerning eye might spy the black of her bra beneath it.
"I promise." She assured her. Night Sky took her time where she might normally be desperately grasping and tugging on fabric to get it off as quickly as possible. Which wasn't to say she didn't want that, because she absolutely wanted Meryl bare before her- but she wanted to take it slow, give the woman time to breathe and take in the sensations and understand how truly special this moment needed to be.
The jacket was pushed open, gently nudged down her shoulders. "Lift up a little for me." Her hand slipped around to press between Meryl's shoulder blades, urging her up so they could work together to get her jacket off. And while she was there, she kissed her again, her hand gently teasing the curve of a breast through her shirt once the jacket was safely discarded.
Obediently, Meryl lifts herself up, then greedily sinks herself into the kiss. The warmth between them keeps her from outright shivering in the night air, at least for the time being. When her body does tremble, it's solely because of the touch that Night Sky offers, skirting teasingly along an area that is surprisingly sensitive despite its small size.
"Sky," Meryl parts from the kiss only to breathe her name. One leg lifts upward, coiling around the dryad's waist to keep her crowded in close. Even as she does, her head twists, burying in her shoulder as she bites back a whimper.
"Yes?" She teased while her fingers continued to trace over her chest, down her side and up under the thin fabric of her shirt. Night Sky's fingers were warm when they splayed against her stomach, pushing the cloth up until it bunched atop the small swell of her breasts. Thankfully, she had been with enough modern women to understand how bras worked, and undoing Meryl's wouldn't be difficult when she got to it.
She paused first, watching the other woman shift her head. Night Sky leaned down to lay a kiss on her cheek, her neck, teeth grazing her skin. Her body shifted to settle her hips against Meryl's. "Hey." She murmured against her skin. "Why are you hiding, beautiful? Do I need to slow down?"
Meryl would have imagined she might have felt more cold, with her shirt pulled up. There's something to be said about the warmth pooling in her stomach, though, and the way it keeps the rest of her now bared torso from becoming chilled with the air.
At Night Sky's question, she quickly shakes her head. Pulling back just slightly, she glances up through her lashes with an almost dangerous glare.
"You better not, Sky." Her lip juts out in a pout.
The glare was unexpected, enough so that Night Sky actually paused for a moment. Then, she chuckled. "Or what?" She asked, her tone teasing and hinted with mischief only accented further with the curve of her mouth. She wasn't going to slow down, but whatever that was from Meryl was incredibly attractive. "Going to punish me, sweetness? Careful, I might like it."
That said, she hooked her hand around Meryl's back and found the clasp of her bra, loosening it so she could push the cups up along with her shirt and expose her breasts. Meryl would have a few seconds to answer before the dryad's mouth was enveloping her nipple, teeth teasing the pebbled bud with a soft him against her skin.
"Night Sky, you're - " Anything she might have tried to say, any half-hearted complaints spoken through a reluctant grin, is promptly erased from Meryl's mind. It seems to short out completely, leaving her to offer nothing more than a recurrent "You - You - "
It trails off into a squeak, as her entire body squirms with the sensation. She doesn't pull away, though. In fact, judging by the way she buries her hands within Sky's hair, it's very clear that it's an enjoyable experience. One that she absolutely wants to encourage.
Too good. She would have to tease her more later when her mouth wasn't otherwise occupied. For now, she focused on her breasts, lips and tongue and teeth honing in on one while she massaged the other, fingers gently pinching - ever vigilant of how Meryl's hands shifted in her hair and the verbal responses she offered.
Releasing her briefly with a soft pop of her lips, Night Sky nuzzled between her breasts. "You mind it a leave a mark?" She asked, pointedly grazing her teeth over her skin.
Meryl doesn't exactly make words, but the sighs and whimpers are more than enough to make up for what she doesn't actually say. The leg around Night Sky's waist, meanwhile, tightens all the more. There's just enough friction when she wiggles that, well, she creates all the more pleasure for herself.
She is, of course, not unfamiliar with the bare basics. Two years alone in the desert lent itself to some... exploration. She knows what she likes in a general sense. And she definitely likes this.
"Mm -" Had Night Sky said something. Hold on, let her collect her thoughts. "Y-yeah. Please, go ahead."

And then logic slams into her like a raging worm. Her eyes go wide, and she promptly puts her head in her hands.
"Never mind! Forget it!"
